We regret to announce that the annual Moegyo Burmese Food
Fair that typically falls on the second Sunday of June is postponed until further
notice.
Fortunately, with your donations, we are able to continue following support programs for 2016 - 2017 school year that are beneficial for less fortunate children in the poorest
parts of Myanmar.
a.Provide monthly support for basic needs of children at
Kani Parahita.
b.Continue the educational support program that provides
salary for educators who help the students taking college entry
exams. The program is highly beneficial to Kani village high school and
helped achieve the highest passing rate in the township for past two school years.
c.Continue providing scholarships for students who passed
college entry exams and are continuing on to college. The school currently has 24
college students who are receiving Moegyo Scholarships. With help of Moegyo educational
support programs, the school so far produced a Defense Services Academy
graduate, a Police Academy graduate and four University of Distance Education
graduates.
a.Provide monthly support for basic needs of girls at the
orphanage.
b.Continue educational support program that provides salary
for educators who help the students taking college entry exams. With
help of Meogyo educational support program, three girls passed the college
entry exam and are continuing to go on to college.
c.Continue providing scholarships for three college students.
a.Provide monthly support for basic needs of the children
at the orphanage. Due to the orphanage being located remotely at the edge of
river with no access to roadways, the children are always in need of basic support
such as food and clothing.

With your support and donations, Moegyo Humanitarian Foundation is able to continue with the following activities and projects in 2014.
1. Moegyo Humanitarian Foundation donated US$1,000 to 3hird Medium (3M) in New York for their efforts in providing support for orphans and orphanages in Myanmar.
2. Continues providing monthly support of about $100 (100,000 kyats equivalent) to each to the following orphanages

In addition to providing tutoring support for high school students who are taking university entry exams since June 2008 school year, Moegyo continues to provide scholarship of about $120 for each university and college student at Kani village and Kyite Latt. There are 26 university and college students currently receiving Moegyo scholarship for 2014-15 school year.

Continues providing monthly salaries of US$100 each for 9 teachers
and US$80 for a maintenance personal at the Moegyo (1) Primary School
in Panthapyay village near Lashio, Shan State, Myanmar.

Enables a construction project of a new High School building at Kani Village in Pyapon Township in Irrawaddy Division. So far, Moegyo was able to send over US$34,000 to fulfill the proposed construction project budget of US $40,000. See the photos of the new high school building near completion.

Due to the increasing numbers of students at Moegyo (1) Primary School in Panthapyay village in Lashio
Township, Shan State, Myanmar, MHF is adding more classrooms, toilets and
living quarters for the teachers. The foundation has funded the initial amount
of US$20,000 for the project to start. Combined with construction and
logistics cost, MHF estimated US$40,000 in total for the whole project
and estimated to be completed by the late spring of 2015. The project
manager from MHF is currently at the area overseeing the activities of the project.
7. Moegyo donated $10,000 to Myanmar Book Aid & Preservation Foundation in Myanmar to cover the logistics cost to send about 50,000 books full of container to the people of Myanmar from the United States.
8. The 7th Annual Moegyo Burmese Food Fair was held in Queens, New York on Sunday June 8th, 2014 and raised over $25,000 combined with donations.
9. On Sunday November 16, 2014, the first South Florida Burmese Food Fair was organized by Moegyo volunteers at Welcome Oriental Food Market at 1282 NW Federal Hwy, Stuart, in South Florida.

The Moegyo team donated $500 to help Cyclone Giri victims through the Buddhist Missionary Society Inc. in New York.
According to the statement issued by the Buddhist Missionary Society Inc., the Cyclone Giri devastated large parts of Arakan state in Burma, including Sittwe, Minbya, Myebon, Pauktaw and Kyauk Phyu, over 93 people have died and many are still missing. The loss of human life and damage caused by tragedy is expected to be higher. With their homes fade away and large tracts of land under dust, more than 175,000 survivors — mostly poor rice farmers — are living in misery, now facing disease and starvation. Immediate relief assistance is still urgently needed by thousands of victims devasted by the Cyclone Giri on October 22, 2010. Their team has launched life-saving efforts to provide relief through a strong network of monasteries and local based communities who have been in the forefront of the efforts to enhance shelters, feeding and supporting the victims of the cyclone.
The Buddhist Missionary Society Inc. aims to provide both immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation. As immediate efforts, they are now providing 10,000 kgs rice and relief materials to the most vulnerable populations in the worse areas in Arakan State.

Last weekend, we held a fundraising food bazaar in New York City.
Objectives of this event were:
- to promote the work of Moegyo - to promote team work, strengthen the relationship among volunteers and join the efforts of all working towards a common goal i.e to help fellow Myanmar people back home - to raise fund and support the current project - working with Helping Hands Group - on providing roofs and package of goods (rice, kalah beans, mat, blanket, dan-oh/pot) to 450 households/huts (1900 people) in villages near Bogalay. Each package is estimated at $40.
There were more than 30 Burmese home-made dishes and desserts donated by individual donors and chefs. Over 70 volunteers had joined this effort from planning, organizing, advertising, preparing delicious dishes, setting up the halls and exhibitions, helping at the booths to finally cleaning up.
The success of this event is credited to the team work of all volunteers, donors and supporters (visitors). Together, we raised $8,100 and we had connected with each other for a common purpose.

I saw news about water supplies being contaminated by salt water and water purification tablets are not useful in those areas.Should we be sending medicine for diarrhea and malaria for widespread illness ?I'm not sure if those medicines are over-the-counter or need prescription. May be we can ask a pharmacist.We need to give those with care, children may need a different dose than an adult...etc. A safer bet may be mosquito nets.

I hope the letterwill help to get better deal. They have experience and resources to supply large amount of meals. You can use it if your plan includes providing foodpackage or large order for many people. It is not necessary to deal only tothat restaurant, if you find better way or better deal elsewhere just goahead. It is all up to you.
I have no objection about water purification tablets carried by the pilot. How about the first batch going with NL. Any problem with customs?
I could make contact with one of my relatives in the city. Most telephonesare not working and will not be working for at least next few weeks.According to them, almost all large trees and telephone/light poles fromcity to Mingaladon fell. Cars line up for two miles to get two gallons ofgas. Only a few buses are running and it cost 1500 kyats to come from ThinGan Gyun to the city.Thank you.

Here are the easy to read instructions on how to use the water purification pills. I think people need less technical information and more straight forward steps at times like this. Perhaps you can hand the hard copies out with the pills. Please change as necessary.
How to contact: None of us can call Yangon at this point. We can only contact you through email when you get there.
Food distribution - outsource through local restaurant HA will try to send PT email with attachment letter to show to his relatives who own the restaurant in Yangon. He still cannot contact them so NL can print and bring this letter and show them. See if they can arrange or do the food packaging and distribution. They may or may not depending on their stock and situation. Please arrange the price with them.
1. I hear that there is shortage of food supplies, in addition to high prices. Perhaps, you can bring preserved and dry foods.
2. A friend of mine from Australia say she has contact with people who can help with distribution of the pills. If you need their help, let me know and I will get you in touch with them.
